eSimJapan is quite easy to use. For people using the service with Android, you can use Google Lens to open the QR code from the device you are activating the eSIM on.

The price was very reasonable for the peace of mind it offered. Considering my regular mobile provider would have asked me for more than double for the same period of time. Before activating the SIM I contacted customer services on WhatsApp to clarify a few points and the response was quick, in depth and very helpful even going so far as to follow up with some helpful clarifying points after I thought we were already finished. The service was robust and throughout my time in Japan I had no issues with download speed or accessing the data I needed. I would easily recommend this to anyone and will be using this service again if I ever make it back to Japan. Thank you for helping make my trip simple and safe.

Both my wife and I couldn’t iMessage consistently. The iPhone would recognize some but most of the numbers in our contacts could not be texted. Some numbers wouldn’t work if we tried to text the number individually but would if it was part of a group text. Customer service was very responsive and tried to be helpful. Various solutions suggested but in the end, I was told it’s a problem all eSIM carriers have with the iPhone. I won’t be using an eSIM in the future but give a 4 because customer service was very responsive. The eSIM connectivity via 4G and 5G was excellent and using other communication apps like LINE worked fast and reliably. Just couldn’t iMessage which is our main form of texting and sending photos/videos while traveling.
